In addition the Gold Coast Hinterland features hundreds of recognised walking tracks from boardwalks through dense lush rainforest to gruelling bush walking trails only suitable for experienced bush walkers. If a scenic drive on winding mountain roads with spectacular views is your thing, take a scenic drive on the Tomewin Mountain Road, over Currumbin Valley this road skirts beautiful Northern New South Wales on route 97 and then swings back into Queensland along the Nerang Murwillumbah Road (route 97) and through the Numinbah Valley.

Mount Cougal walking trail is only for experienced bushwalkers, Mount Cougal bush walking trail is virtually an unmarked track following the Queensland and New South Wales border fence. The views are spectacular on the grassy plateaus  and the eastern summit of Mt Cougal is breathtaking, however this is only for experienced bush-walkers.  Mount Warning climb is another popular bush walking track although it is in northern New South Wales it should be part of your Gold Coast walking activities.
